This is the portrait of Wayne Myers I shot for the blog entry on the launch of his own career as a full time professional, as opposed to working full time for me.
Photographing a product in a lifestyle setting can bring it’s own problems. We need to remember that the model is secondary to the product, and whilst they create the desirable lifestyle our client wishes to market to their potential clients, we need to bear in mind the key points of the product.
Photographing chocolate can present challenges. If you aren’t careful with regards to lighting, the chocolate can take on an almost plastic look. Not particularly conducive to one of the world’s most renowned romantic food items.
This was one of the first events the Olympus E-M1 covered. As I mentioned in The Tides of Change post, the Olympus was originally purchased for personal work.
This was part of a shoot for the Northern String Quartet, based in Manchester, but photographed at the outstanding Eaves Hall in West Bradford, Clitheroe.
Food photography depends very much on good light, and yet the textures, shapes and form can respond extremely well to quite a simple lighting setup.
This portrait was always going to be black and white, hard hitting, and pretty much influenced by “Sin City” and the like.
It’s funny, inspiration can come from the strangest places. This is a gate at the back of the Great Hall at Mains. The Hall itself has a huge potential for photography opportunities, both inside and out. But moving just that little further afield means we can get something unique.
I’ve often said all my photography is client driven. From food to vehicles, roomsets to fashion, products to bridal brochures, it was always to realise someone else’s vision. Which is great.
