Photographing Food With The Elinchrom ELB1200
I was lucky to be given early access to the Elinchrom ELB1200, and I wanted a number of shoots with various themes. Basically, to test the flexibility and capabilities of the unit.

The delivered box seemed much heavier than I had expected. Being LED, I had assumed it would have similar weight characteristics to the LED panels I had handled.
I do enjoy working at Eaves Hall, whether it’s photographing their food, their rooms, or as in this case, a wedding. The venue allows a vast array of opportunities for the creative photographer.
This is a departure from my usual posts, as it’s not a lighting tutorial or a review of a piece of equipment. It is, however, of use to every Olympus shooter.
This Scania truck is part of a collection of trucks and wagons belonging to a company, based in London, near the City Airport. I was there to create a portfolio of images for use in their PR and marketing, but also for their new website, currently being developed by D & M Creative.
Meet Clarke Carlisle, ex professional footballer and founder of the charity, Foundation for Dual Diagnosis. My brief was to take a few location portraits, which were to be more than the usual corporate headshots. Something a little different.

Arriving in a tightly packed box, I had two identical, nylon cylindrical cases. One contained a 50cm Strobius StrobiStrip, whilst the second contained a 100cm model.
I’ve used tabletop tripods a great deal when younger, mostly for macro work. Later, I found my use of these small supports waned, mostly due to equipment getting heavier.
A funny thing happened on the way to the studio, or so the story begins. For some time my wife, along with a few close friends and employees, had basically nagged me senseless to look at purchasing a camera system that would be radically different to my work gear.
