Wedding Brochure Photography – Alston Hall

Alston Hall is a government owned large country house with some rather nice features and grounds. It’s primary use has been residential adult education, with various courses available. They also provide conference facilities too, and with the current economic climate, they are being pressured to source more funding for themselves. They’ve been granted a wedding licence and have already had several bookings within weeks. This

A wedding in the rain

This wedding at the Inn at Whitewell was over two days, with the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast on the Friday, and the evening reception on the Saturday. As the wedding breakfast was actually going to be fairly late in the evening, I discussed the informal portrait session with the bride and groom, and we decided to try for the following evening, before the

Dance Instructor – Martins Arbidans

Rachel Mason (of Dare to be Different fame) was to be interviewed and an article published in Live Preston Magazine. Part of Rachel’s skills is organising publicity events with a different twist. One of her supporting cast is Martins Arbidans, a Russian guy who teaches dance, particularly street dance.

Waiting for the Train

This was another shoot for Rachel Mason of Dare to be Different, although quite a stark contrast to some of her usual work. Emma wore a business type suit, and the emphasise was to be kept to the colour of her hair. In fact, initial impressions were to be of a business woman waiting for a train, although more details would be revealed on closer

Fusion Cocktail Evenings

Following on from the food photography I provided for The Fusion Room on Friargate, Preston, I was asked to photograph their inaugural event, working with Carlito’s Mobile Cocktail Bar and Passion 4 Events. A very enjoyable evening with an awful lot of people who had a fantastic time.

Getting Creative With Essential Actions in Photoshop

Let me just say one thing first, and any serious photographer will subscribe to the same notion, actions are there to enhance good photographs. They can rarely rescue very bad exposures or techniques. It can certainly be done, but not usually with a “one click fixes all” approach, which a lot of folk seem to be desperately searching for. That said, if you understand the

New Year’s Eve at Carlito’s Cocktail Bar, Clitheroe

Club photography, not the easiest of disciplines to get right, although an awful lot of young photographers would like to follow it. I had a request to cover the New Year’s Eve party at Carlito’s Cocktail Bar in Clitheroe, which I happily accepted and quite looked forward to. I went along to meet the owner, Carlo, and took to him very quickly. A rather quietly

Passion 4 Events Themed 80s Night

This one seems to have slipped my mind, which is a shame, as I rather enjoyed the evening. Imagine an 80s theme night. I’m not just talking music here, but lots of little (and large) things that all made the 1980s memorable. Rubik’s cube anyone? Yep, they were about in abundance, along with genuine (although newly made) sweets from the 80s, such as sherbert fountains
